I had promised myself I'd try to finally get some sets completed here in 2022, rather than always be working on so many sets at the same time that I could never seem to finish any.
Just a couple days ago got the last card I needed to finally complete my '48 Sports Thrills set. Had needed card #12, "Most Dramatic Home Run", featuring Gehrig and Ruth, for quite some time. Finally pulled the trigger on a really nice raw VG-EX+ one Gregg Morris had. Felt really good to cross that last card off my want list. |

I've finished the '67 Topps set with the last few cards from the high numbers arriving in November/December. My procrastination on this one cost me dearly. I remember passing on Seaver rookies going for under $200 thinking I'd find better deals down the road. LOL Same for the Carew at <$100. But it's in the rear view now.
On the other side of the tracks, I put together three Philadelphia Gum football sets ('65, '66 and '67) without much fuss or bother. All since last spring. I had the '64 set done long ago so I've scratched off one hobby goal, the four Philly sets are now in one big binder along with wrapper examples from each..

That is a neat connection to the set. Great set with great players. A little pricier to finish nowadays as in addition to the Ruth-Gehrig card there's a Jackie Robinson card highlighting his breaking of baseball's color barrier. Like most early Robinson cards, the value of this card has risen greatly recently. But it actually still seems to be a little bit more underappreciated than a lot of his other 1940's card issues. A great little set to go after, highlighting some of baseball's most iconic feats and players. Good luck if you do decide to go after the set.

I started my 1973 Topps Baseball by receiving 100 singles from Kevvg1026 for about the same amount of 1972s that I had as extras. Both lots included mid-grade cards in general with the inclusion of minor stars and lesser demand HOFs.
