I know that the 60 cards in the 1969 Transogram set were issued as individual cards on the back of packages that contained a toy statue of the player.

The 30 cards from 1970 issued in three card panels on the backs of a packages that contained three toy statues. If a player is in both sets and is individually cut, how can you tell the difference between a 1969 and 1970 card? My Standard Catalog states that the 1969 cards are 2-1/2" x 3-1/2" while the 1970s are slightly wider at 2-9/16" x 3-1/2". Is that the only difference? |

Here is the 2008 Standard Catalog of Baseball Cards entry for the 1969 and 1970 Transograms.

Size matters. You tell the difference by 1/16"

Thanks David. That is basically the only info that I have been able to find. Seems like the 1/16" width difference is the only thing distinguishing the duplicate subjects in the 1969 and 1970 sets.

I know that the 1960’s Bazooka cards that were printed similarly have very subtle photo cropping diffences when they reused the same photo from one year to the next, I don’t know if there are photo cropping differences between the 1969 and 1970 Transogram cards.

Is there a difference in scarcity in complete boxes between singles and triples? Better way to put it, was there a noticeably larger production in one set vs the other? Is that known?

Clemente is Bob is the 1969 set and Roberto in the 1970 set. The boxes seem to be a little easier for the 1970s than the 1969s.

That has also been my experience. Although demand isn’t always all that strong. I have several 69 complete boxes for sale that have been waiting patiently for a couple of years without a lot of interest. But maybe my museum prices are the bigger issue.
