That sounds like good advice - can you advise how to find the right Jeweler (or coin dealer?) to extract the coins to determine if the coins are in good shape?

I would think any jeweler should be able to do it. But make sure you let them know to be careful with the coins. A coin shop might be able to do it as well and they would know to be careful with the coins.

Final chapter… just want to close down the thread with good news and thanks. Butch helped me find a well regarded and fair local coin shop and I just drove there, nice guys and a fair deal for sure. Just a 1/2 whisker where I hoped to end up.

Thanks again to all for your very helpful advice - now… back to my red portrait Cobb search!
