I was wrong in one of my earlier posts. Lovellette was not the first person to win the NCAA championship and Olympic gold medal in the same year. That honor goes to the 5 members of the 1948 Olympic team who played for Kentucky: Cliff Barker, Ralph Beard, Alex Groza, Wah Wah Jones and Kenny Rollins. I got my years mixed up as Kentucky won the NCAA in 1948.

The second double gold medalist in basketball - 1952, 1956. jackson-64-1.jpg Luke Jackson - 1964 Olympics game vs Uruguay. Latvian press photo. 1964 gold medal.
