Congratulations. Our first was a girl and our life was forever changed. Last summer my son and daughter-in-law had the doctor seal the results in an envelope and they gave that to a baker who put little pink toys into cupcakes for a gender reveal party (which I hadn’t previously knew was a thing). Our granddaughter crawled for the first time yesterday.

Sorry your surprise was ruined but in the end it won’t matter. You’re about to have a beautiful healthy baby girl. The instant she’s here you’ll be hopelessly in love.

You only say that because they are young! I have a 17-year old girl and 15-year old boy. One of the two is responsible for about 99% of the stress and anxiety in our household (hint: it is not the boy). Enjoy your daughters while they are young!

Could not agree more. Being a dad of two girls has been such a blessing. Girls love their dads so much.

Mine are both in their 20's now. They skate better than I do, can hit a golf ball, ride their bikes with me, throw, played soccer, and know more about sports and the history of sports than most of their male peers.

Don't wish away any stages, and don't lament the loss of any stage. Enjoy every stage, and enjoy every sandwich with them.
