I can't stand the look of the new Authentic flip. It's just so cluttered and messy looking. I like the information, but I don't understand why they couldn't just add those notes to the website so that you can look it up online when looking up the cert.

Have you tried using their Pop report or the nonexistent registry?
If so why do you have confidence that looking up the notes online would be any better?

Even under good circumstances looking stuff up online is a PITA.

I will walk-back my full support for the labels. They do look too cluttered and most people slab cards because they want to visually enjoy the presentation.

I like the full "Authentic" but the Debbie Downer qualifying info right there kills the presentation vibe. That info is critically important, though, and should be readily available...but just not placed there.

I find the "A" and the grade numbers too large to begin with. I like the old green labels.

Big fan of the SGC labels in general, I don't have to squint to see a grade on a card at a show. Is that a EX-MT 6 or a NM-MT 8 PSA card? When you glance down at a showcase those SGC grades pop!

Anytime a grading company adds more information, I consider this a win for the collector because they can make an informed decision. Hate trimmed cards, but added color is ok, then here you go, a cheap alternative authentic card is here for your taking.

PSA should take note of what SGC is doing here, this is a win for those collecting authentic graded cards likely of big names.

I appreciate them trying clear up the ambiguity of the current A grade. It's a problem that has needed to be addressed. Adding more information behind the grade is a move in the right direction.

The new design isn't a knockout though. Maybe the additional info could be moved to the back of the label? Or a QR code takes you to a page that explains the grade even further? There, they could include grader notes, or even an image that circles the specific area on that card that was altered. I'm sure that takes more time and resources, requiring extra fees, but while the card is in their hands under scrutiny, tell us more about what they see.

*I've never submitted cards for grading, but occasionally buy them as a casual collector

Is the back of the label visible on SGC graded cards?

It isn’t. That’s why the tuxedo look wouldn’t be the same if they moved it to the back. They would have to sacrifice the complete black insert and add a plastic window...
No thanks
