Here are a few 1976 Topps Traded Reggies (complete with awful Toppsian airbrushing work) that I did for my 'Cards That Never Were' thread...

Spelling "Yastrzemski" correctly without needing to look it up since the 1980s.

Goodwin & Co. gave us the "Brown's Champions 1886" in 1887 after they defeated Chicago. They issued both Old Judge and Gypsy Queen Brown's Champs portraits. It would have been nice if they did the same for the 1887 champion Detroit team. Here is a fantasy card I pulled together a couple years ago. This could have been, should have been, a late 1887 addition to the set.

He missed the set by a couple of years, but I have always thought an N300 Mayo King Kelly would have been cool. I like 1955 Topps as well and Mantle would have been a good addition.

Here's one of my favorite mockups of a card that never was. Too bad the game didn't integrate sooner.

So when I saw the title of this thread, it gave me an idea to create a card than never happened. In short, Arod was invited to play for the 1993 USA Baseball Team. Each player had to agree to appear on a Topps baseball card, which would be part of the 1993 Topps Traded set. Due to a baseball card disagreement, Arod was knocked off the team. However, he stayed with the team during the week-long dispute, participating in practices and pregame workouts.

I have the Team USA Media Guide with Arod in it. I have the article from the local newspaper that explains what occurred, and I have a baseball that Arod signed on 6/16/93, while he was with the team.

So I thought, why not create the card myself to display with the ball and media guide.

The only thing I couldn't do was place the correct USA on his jersey. I'm not a graphics or photo shop person. I did this all using word.

If anyone knows someone who is good with graphics and could help, it would be greatly appreciated. Of course, willing to pay for the help.

Thanks!

That’s really cool Joe and completely agree. I wish we could find a 1889 Detroit baseball currency or have a fantasy image to post.
