edited to add it looks like all of the Epson scanners, with this medium-type specs, have been around a few years or more....we'll see.

If you spring for the Epson and it doesn't work with your Windows version, just get the Silverfast software I mentioned above. I think it's better then the Epson software that comes in the box anyways.
