Yes, I should have noted the Schofield as part of the Monteagudo-Howser print error combo.

I can't believe I've never seen that one. I blame Al for not keeping me up to date.

The 5th series had 88 cards in it, so 8 different rows, printed 3x each, using the same print pattern throughout the sheet.

Schofield/Monteagudo/Howser were in columns 4, 5, & 6 in the print row headed by Bob Johnson. The card to the left of Schofield is Walker (448) and the card to the right of Howser is Lou Johnson (410).

Nen is in column 10 of a completely row. This row was headed by the 5th series checklist. Nen is sandwiched between Pete Ward (436) and Tiant (377). The card above him on the sheet in all 3 cases is Cards Rookies (384).

I doubt that the Nen error is related to the others but perhaps there is a Tiant, Ward, or Cards Rookies missing black error lurking to be discovered??

Default I knew I came to the right place!

Thanks for all the input guys! I am making an effort to get PSA to recognize and grade this as such. The card ultimately will be for sale but have a bit more due diligence to do on it first. Feel free to PM me if interested when it is available.

I am actively buying and selling vintage sports cards graded and raw. Feedback as a buyer: https://www.net54baseball.com/showthread.php?t=297262

I am accepting select private consignments of quality vintage cards (raw or graded) and collecting "want" lists for higher end ($1K+) vintage cards.

I think it is just another print defect, but a good one, and in earlier days the hobby did recognize the Spezio. Good luck Howard, we variant fans are rooting for you

I couldn't disagree more. Once a variation is officially recognized, the prices go up, up, up!!!!!!!!

I do not think we disagree Darren. Whether a variant is a “true” variation ( 55 Robinson ?) or a recurring print defect ( 61 Fairly ?), if it receives hobby recognition it’s value goes up and it is sought by a wider group of collectors. Since the Catalogs are gone the best way to boost a card value is recognition by PSA so it becomes needed by master collectors

PSA used to rely on the Catalogs, print or on line, to recognize variations. The road to hobby recognition is just a little more chaotic these days.

The Nen has already obtained a niche hobby following. Glad I got one early. If Howard can get PSA to recognize the Nen it will be sought after by master as well as niche collectors and the value will go up more.

I know you have a great assortment of tough variations/variants in your collection. If we have a difference in this area I am not sure what it involves

I'm looking to see a '67 5th series sheet, but am having no luck. Mind sharing?
