I see Doug's and Peter's point. It's not a public apology when you say I'm sorry, but not what for. Calling it a public apology doesn't make it one.
I'm not saying a public apology is needed, although I suspect that it would help. And I don't know, or don't recall the situation, but Doug's point seems valid. Sounds like Erik has started out on a good beginning to the path, but has a bit further to go?
