I would assume it is just an imperfection in the screening process. Domer would have a much better idea, hopefully he can elaborate.

Greg. Here's a variation on your's that seems to be pretty hard to track down...

Cool. Never saw this before, it’s a 3/4 size?

Most likely it left the factory like that; but, I can't rule out exposure to moisture, cleaning products, etc. that can cause those delicate colors to run over time. Rob: have you had success cleaning (or bleaching) a pennant that was polychromatic? I would think the white underbase layer would do well; but, always feared the applied colors would run.

Not sure which Rob but yes...I did experiment with cleaning/bleaching 60s polychromatic pennants a few years back. Generally, white ones cleaned up nicely and the graphics held up fine...except for the color red. Red bleeds pretty badly but generally stops after the outer layer sloughs off and if you keep rinsing with water, all the bleeding washes away with no bleeding stains left behind. Sometimes, but not always, the red graphics have a slightly faded look after but it's more uniform than that Reds pennant which leads me to believe it was probably made that way with some aging/fading factored in as well.

I just noticed an ebay sale of these three mini pennants that I believe are from American Knitwear/Keezer. Very rare. Just thought I would show them here (they are not mine... I only own the Giants). I'll also add pics of examples from other teams I've seen. The Pirates is stamped American Knitwear (we discussed that one and the Giants a few months back). I admit that they may not all be from the same series or even maker, but they share a number of similarities (with one being rarity).

One slight anomaly I noticed is the Angels...the location and team name are reversed on that one, compared to all the others.

A little trick to fool the eye...these homemade tassels aren't even attached. They're just laid on the pennant.
