The CJ is a great looking card (aren't they all?), but it's a little strange to see Rickey in uniform. The iconic Branch Rickey image, like Connie Mack, is of an older fellow in a suit and tie. Therefore, I'd personally opt for something depicting him as he is most famously remembered.

Chuck Connors once said of Branch Rickey, "Mr. Rickey has money and he has ballplayers and believes the two should not be commingled"

I have made that nice Jackie display even nicer. And the V117 Willard's Chocolate card that Brian posted is also for sale in the BST.
I like the Cracker Jack cards the most, but the other three options posted, the only cards for Branch that I know about issued during his career, are not bad either. Brian Last edited by brianp-beme; 05-12-2023 at 10:37 AM. |

“Luck is the residue of design.” Branch Rickey, quoted in Sporting News, Feb. 21, 1946.
My Rickey card is also the 1941 team issue from early on in his executive career ...which is why we care about him -- one of baseball's wisest and most influential executives.. Last edited by Misunderestimated; 05-12-2023 at 11:26 PM. |
