Can’t people just buy cards for shi$s and giggles anymore. All this invest and gotta buy only the HOF. What if I don’t like the HOF players? What if I like the Oscar Gambles and the Ralph Garrs of the world. This hobby used to be for enjoyment and relaxation not telling people who to buy because you think it’s going to
![]() ![]() ![]() Yes I love when my cards go up, maybe I can sell a couple to buy more cards. If you don’t collect what you enjoy you’ll be outta cards quickly. My friend just had to show me this card the other day. It was some Julio Urias card that looked like a playing card. He loved it ! He was going to a signing to get it signed. Was paying $140. I didn’t tell him I thought that was nuts. I loved it because he got into cards buying what he likes. Maybe he’ll stay collecting with his son who is the one that got him into it. I still have hope. Heres my advice. Find a few dealers you trust and talk to them often. It helps to just look at a lot of things to see whats out there and gets you interested. A trusted dealer that is willing to share information is a great asset to learning . Its either that or the School of Hard Knocks. Also see if you can get signed up with some of the big auction houses for their free catalogs..... and just sit and peruse them..... and follow the auctions online without bidding. Im sure you will discover your interests that way..... and with counsel from your dealer friends you may then want to start buying a few things. Most of us have learned from older collectors and dealers along the way ( and are still learning as we go!!) and are willing to share with newer collectors what we have found. Its amazing to me that theres so much out there and so many differing opinions! Good luck and go slowly!! Rocky

Buy what you like, because you like it.
If you buy a card inside a piece of plastic, a rounded kitchen knife works best to remove it, but be careful. |
