For the “why”, anytime you see that crackling effect it means someone has used a brown liquid like tea or coffee to give the appearance of aging/toning.
The Wagner is just it’s own thing that’s bright white with sharp corners that you wouldn’t see on a card like that and the printing looks terrible. The Cobb has the crackling and the perimeter wear just isn’t honest, card perimeters don’t wear like that over the course of 100 years. That kind of wear happens over the course of 5 minutes.

The m101 reprints like the Wagner have been identified and discussed many times over the years. When there is a noticeable space between the end/edge of the photo and the square box that frames it, it is a reprint-- a cropped photo of the original.

“Store Owners” ….. often cited as the source of prior multi thousand dollar offers when card is presented to a reputable dealer at a show…… with asking price much lower… LOL
