Have you noticed that commas can be difficult? A tendency to overuse them is a very common affliction. For example: "This message is intended as a tongue-in-cheek comment for the vast majority of you, who are good and friendly folks." What is the purpose of the comma above? Totally unnecessary. And then this: "Have any of you ever posted a thread/made an inquiry you thought was important, only to see it get derailed in 2 seconds? What is the reason for this comma? None. And then this: "If you can't resist the urge to hijack a thread, just come here and vomit out your unnecessary verbiage!" Also no need for the comma above. But here we have a run-on: "Welcome aboard, start building those verbal sandcastles you enjoy foisting on others!!! This is known as a comma splice. You have put together two sentences with just a comma in between. You have several choices to fix it. You could use a period or a semicolon. You could even use a comma with a conjunction like "and". But the comma by itself is incorrect. I'd like to sarcastically suggest that if you can't master middle school grammar, you shouldn't post more than one sentence at a time! There. Did I hijack properly? |

Scott- Since you asked, I'll give you a D for your reply. You didn't actually
hijack, you missed the point. However, you went out of your way to provide a grammar lesson, which is usually the last refuge of the desperate. (I gave you a D instead of failing you, as you at least attempted snark). Trent King Last edited by ClementeFanOh; 10-29-2023 at 11:43 AM. Reason: name correction |

Speaking of sandboxes; does anyone have any ideas of the true population of 1922 Eastern Exhibit black and whites?
Last I checked, they were just graded under the generic '1922 Eastern Exhibit' umbrella. |

So in the spirit of kindness, I won't mention your run-on sentence in the quote above. Instead, let me recommend a book for you: Perfect English Grammar: The Indispensable Guide to Excellent Writing and Speaking. It's only $10 on Amazon. I do applaud your love of Rush, though. And do you ever wonder why they don't put windmills on freeways? You have all these cars driving 80mph producing enormous wind. (If you've ever broken down on the side of the freeway you'd understand.) Why not install some small windmills somewhere along the freeway to capture all that wind being generated by the cars? |

When I was a kid, for years I thought Stan Musial was Stan Musical. I had read about him and it was only when I finally heard it pronounced aloud that I realized my mistake.

SAllen- You ever heard the expression "Don't get in a peeing contest with
a skunk"? No? Look it up, learn it, apply it... I don't respect your incorrect corrections and will not be persuaded otherwise- it's a non-starter. To the folks who actually understand the spirit of the sandbox (as close to the Rush reference I could get), keep it up!! Trent King |

I don't think I want to play in a sandbox with the guy who threw a public tantrum because someone was against literally lynching people they don't like. Doesn't seem like a safe space!

Phil/Casey- I think we need a safe space away from 1911, believe me...
1911- Funny you mention meaningful hobby thoughts, etc. I do have those, I share them with people I trust who enjoy the hobby. You don't make the list... On a side note, it's ironic and amusing to imagine you boiling with rage as you write about how irrational I am. Sounds like a Monty Python skit, but for the fact that you're not the least bit amusing. Trent King |

...players' salary demands... Speaking of salaries, can you believe what starting pitchers are making these days? I mean, an eight figure payday for chumps who would have been career minor league middle-of-the-rotation guys back in the day. Back in the day. Where the hell did that term come from? I guess they made it up (wait for it) back in the day. Oh, that reminds me about something "made up" recently. NFTs. Yep, those million dollar digital thingies collectors were going crazy over not too long ago. Those fools really lost their shirt. Lose your shirt. Hmmm. "Deep Thoughts" time. Is it worse to lose your shirt when it's cold outside, or only if you're not indoors? Before you all show me the door, I just have one more question: If a chicken and a half can lay an egg and a half in a day and a half, how long does it take a monkey with a wooden leg to kick all the seeds out of a dill pickle? # # # How'd I do?

What a poorly worded question . #1 - which leg does the monkey kick with ? .. The wooden one or the real one ? Also is the monkey left-handed or right handed ? How can you expect an answer with such vague information ? If you can’t do better go ahead and head for the door Thanks Eric |
