Peter, I am confident I am not pumping cards (at least I don’t intend to). But thank you.

It is a vent thread. In response to many threads discussing values/investments, G1911 constantly accuses pumpers on this site of encouraging people to empty their 401K’s, borrow against assets, etc. Its annoying and beyond old bc (1) it’s often irrelevant to the specific topic/conversation, and (2) it implies we have nefarious board members posting opinions solely for personal gain, which I believe is simply not true. I often opine here on investment matters and cards. Many of us do. Personally, I can’t help feeling like I am called a pumper for doing so. I imagine I am not the only one who feels this way.

Anyway, perhaps I am the asshole or overly sensitive, or both. So be it. I have vented and now I will retire to my corner

Since you solicited opinions on the matter, I'd suggest worrying less about whether or not people think you are pumper and focus on trying to be a nicer human being.

To me, how someone treats animals is a good gauge of the kind of person they are. I'm sure my wife would tell me I'm selfish and have way too many cardboard pictures of dead guys.

Who was the best pumper on the 1934 St. Louis Cardinals?

Ryan, I don't think of you as a pumper, you seem to be a buy-and-hold sort, looking to accumulate your cardboard.

There have been a few pumpers on here, in my opinion. There was a guy not too long ago that was saying you can't go wrong with Mantle rookies, they were going to go up, up, up. Turns out he had 2 or 3 52T Mantles coming up at HA.

Another guy on here was talking about 82T Gwynn as one of the cards with the most growth potential. Co-incidentally he was unloading several Gwynn PSA 10s RCs.

I don't believe Ruth, Cobb, Jackson etc. have any extra upside than other stars, but saying that doesn't make you a pumper, unless you are sitting on those cards trying to move them.

Saying that you can't go wrong with a 52 Mantle doesn't really feel like pumping to me. Even if you own ten of them. It's a pretty common viewpoint in the hobby. Perhaps even the most common when asked which cards one should target. But a guy with a box full of Gwynn RCs telling everyone that those are going to the moon soon and you'd better get them while you still can... ya, that's definitely pumping. Or rather it's the flavor of pumping that I dislike. I guess both could be "pumping" technically, but the first doesn't feel slimy, while the second one does.

Cards for sale: https://www.flickr.com/photos/185900663@N07/albums

I am actively buying and selling vintage sports cards graded and raw. Feedback as a buyer: https://www.net54baseball.com/showthread.php?t=297262

I am accepting select private consignments of quality vintage cards (raw or graded) and collecting "want" lists for higher end ($1K+) vintage cards.

LOL...no. That was a fake pump above.

They aren't very scarce and can be had at almost any time.
