Yes but isn't that exactly how the majority of auction houses work on similar priced items. I haven't done much selling or buying with AHs but that is how it has worked for me.

I guess because it was an asking price sale maybe it feels different. He got 94.5% of his asking price. Of course he could've asked less and gotten the same amount if not for the added charge but again, that's the same as an auction BP.

From a buyer's perspective, much better than Ebay and auction house fee wise.

I like the site and think there is a definite need for a platform opposite of ebay. The issue I have is the museum asking prices that are similar to what I see when browsing ebay. Maybe have some kind of stipulation on pricing, like be within 20% of past sales etc….Obviously you can drill down on specifics but there has to be a way to sell competitively without gouging. Some of the asking prices on myslabs makes Deans cards pricing look like a bargain.

I am a big fan of myslabs both as a buyer and seller. Minimal fees taken out as a seller versus the Ebay alternative plus there are no bs returns or buyer not paying. From a buyer perspective you know that the card will be shipped out timely with shipping / tax already factored into the price. Also, you need to prove yourself as a good seller / buyer to get and maintain an account. Only issue is pricing is high and feels like being at a card show

I've not had much luck at all on MySlabs as a seller, even when I list at substantially lower prices than on eBay. I feel like if it's not seen in the first 24 hours, it never gets looked at. I think for me the eyeballs/volume is too low. But I do know that others seem to have more success than me.
As a buyer, I agree that the prices seem quite high usually but once or twice with offers I have had luck. I honestly almost never look there anymore. |

I love the concept and interface, but the marketing and site traffic are abysmal. I've been astonished by the number of cards I've sold on eBay for hundreds more than the price I listed on MySlabs.
One guy who messaged me on eBay saw my $2900 listing on MySlabs, but said he wasn't familiar enough with the site to trust it, so he wanted to purchase it on eBay. His eBay price after tax and shipping was about $3625. It's just one anecdote, but it speaks volumes about how much extra people are willing to spend to avoid uncertainty. |
