Sometimes you go into a game knowing it could be important. Maybe it is the debut of a highly touted prospect. Or it is the final game of the season with playoff implications
Other times you don't know before, but you figure it out during the game. Maybe a big star gets 4 home runs, or a pitcher pitches a no-hitter. Other times, the significance of a moment is only noticable some time later. On August 22, 2023, Mike Trout returned from injury. He played one game and returned to the injured list for the remainder of the season. At the end of the year, Shohei Ohtani signed with the Dodgers. The result is that this game represents the final time that Trout and Ohtani played together as teammates. Likely the final time their names will ever be penciled in on the same 'official batting order' card. Last edited by Topnotchsy; 01-08-2024 at 09:42 PM. |
