Default just happened

Won a Net54 auction.... cards arrived in a few days in Jacksonville, Florida (where I am) from Boston.... then after 5 more days of saying "delivery delayed" .... tracking shows it was now in Puerto Rico!! Had a happy ending when a few days later it made it back to Jacksonville and now delivered to me safely. Go figure....

And yet the one I sent to PR earlier this month bounced between the regional center and the airport center four times in a week before finally getting on a flight.

One more USPS pin ball job. A few years back a package containing this nifty postcard was sent from Seattle to Victoria BC, 75 miles as the crow flies, with stops along the way in New York, Atlanta and freakin' Qatar. Took 87 days. Sent by Registered Mail no less. Go figure.

This will turn into a Twilight Zone episode if Peter receives Eric's package and vice versa...

What's mind boggling is that they've tracked it so well and the appearance is that the packages are not lost, just in some kind of limbo and (hopefully) soon to be delivered.

Looking forward to hearing a positive outcome for both of you, but would rather read about the Twilight Zone finish to this.

Once it got to T.F. Green and sent to the Providence distribution center it should have been easy. The post office sends trucks up 95 to the Boston area. Routing it up Rte 146 to Shrewsbury makes no sense. Shrewsbury to Boston is logical as the USPS at Ft. Point Channel is the major sort facility for eastern MA. But the misdirection from there is comical: Chelsea to Brookline then Nashua. Brookline should have caught it at that point and redirected to Newton. It was almost a tease. "We are sending it north then we will bring it to the next town over then out of state!"

Where in Newton do you live? I grew up in Waltham. Southeast side behind the Calvary Cemetery. Walked to West Newton to the movie theatre. Played softball at Albemarle and used that pool in the summer.

My item finished its second tour of Chicago and now sits in Wilmington, Delaware. Either way, its next trip should take it north. Let's see just how far north it goes...

I think the furthest misdirection for myself by USPS was with an eBay auction. I live in Birmingham, Mi, the sorting clerk in one of the stations decided no such place existed and sent it to Birmingham, England. That was a many stops and several months delivery from a simple couple states away.

On December 5th, someone mailed me a baseball pennant from Pa to Va. It was postmarked on Dec. 20th and finally arrived on Jan. 12th!

On Nov. 30th, I mailed a check from Va. to Pa. It still hasn't arrived.

USPS sucks.
