Day 42 – 12 February 2024
Back to some boxes. Displayed here are three baseball card related box appeared on. First, the 1976 topps box featuring Brooks batting what appears to be left handed. He appears on the top and front of the box and included 36 different packs of cards with bubble gum. Next is the 1967 Topps box with Mantle and Brooksie. This box included 24 packs of cards with a pin up. This box is less common and a little more expensive since Mantle is included. The next box is from 1989 Swell Baseball Greats of All Time. Brooks adorns the box. The card of Brooks is also displayed. This box is very common and would include 36 packs of cards.

Day 43 – 13 February 2024
In 1964 Brooks Robinson and Ken Boyer were named MVPs of their respective leagues. Rawlings celebrated the two 3d baseman MVPs with a glove including their two signatures. Provided is a picture of the glove, which is in very poor shape. I am also showing the glove box with Brooks’ photo on one side of the box and Boyer’s on the other. I am also showing a pamphlet from the box (I believe) that included player instructional information, details about the player and some day to day highlights on each player throughout the year. The box is in decent condition and I have never seen another. The pamphlet is pretty common. I believe there is a nice folder with other details that was provided at a dinner or banquet celebrating their MVP seasons. The smaller thing at the bottom right is a clip featuring Books and Boyer that was handed out at the banquet (I believe). The clip is pretty rare. All of these items make for a great display.

Default Armour Meats (Pure Pork Sausage) Display from the 1970

Day 44 – 14 February 2024
Today I am showing you a Display from Armour Meats (Pure Pork Sausage) from the 1970s. The display measures 13.5 inches by 10.5 inches. It has two identical sides showing a list of 8 signatures including Brooks, Bench, Reichardt, Conigliano, Staub, Maxvill, Jackson and Williams and different view of a mail in ball you could receive for $1.00. The ball is made by Rawlings. The ball protrudes from each side of the cardboard and is wrapped in cellophane. The box has a hole at the top so guessing it would hang from the ceiling. I displayed this a couple years ago but thought to share again. I have never seen this one before. The display looks like it was made yesterday. Pretty unique.

Before you picked this one up I had never seen this piece before. To me it’s so surprising that the piece survived, in this condition, for so long. Definitely an awesome display.

Scott,

I really don't know. I believe it's likely that Brooks and Boyer were taking photos with the people at the event. I believe I see on their name tags that it's likely a husband and wife from Burlington NJ; possible Dick and Betty, but not real sure.

I was wondering if they were Brooks or Boyers parents.

I really like the box. I had an opportunity when I really first started collecting to pick a Brooks/Boyer box like the one you have, but it was just to much money at the time. Of course it would have been a steal at that price nowadays.

I bet you put on some Rawlings "Glovolium" on that glove it would come back to life.

I think those 8X10 drawings of Brooks and Boyer were part of the '64 year as well.

I'm unsure if you can see it, but both Brooks and Boyer have on the clips...
