Based on the butt of the rifle it is most likely late 18th early 19th Century. It is a conversion. Removed the flintlock and replaced it with a percussion hammer. The barrel also looks like it was a replacement as it is hexagonal rather that round. It is probably rifled for a .577 caliber minie ball versus the old flintlock barrels which were usually .69 caliber. The stock was cut down so that it is more like a carbine rather than a long rifle. That may be the ramrod that originally was part of the rifle, but looks out of place as it should have a shorter iron one.
I used to collect autographs of Civil War generals, both CSA and US. I went to a lot of shows and looked at a lot of arms. At one point I owned a CS import Enfield rifle before it was stolen by someone who everyone else in my family refers to as my brother, but is invisible to me.
