In terms of technology I don't believe scanning has changed much at all in the last 10+ years, the v37 from 2012 is actually newer than the v600 and can scan at the same Dpi as the v600 (super high Dpi is irrelevant as we aren't scanning film). The only real difference is slightly slower scanning. The v37 also comes with a hinged lid that allows you to open it and scan long items very easily.
