I currently have no white whale. It was the last t216 dots miller i needed for my run. I thought it could take a lifetime to find.

One day commercial fisherman mac wubben emailed me with my whale. Of course I had to reimburse him for operating costs!!!!

I'd surmise your whale is also other's whale!!!!

Any excuse to show dots!!!!

D303 Mothers' Bread Bressler and Lajoie

I think Bressler exists, but I'm not sure about Lajoie.

If we're talking collecting in general, I don't believe I have one. The cards that I really want in my collection are ones all readily available if you have the financial means to acquire them, which I don't.

I suppose if I were really to choose something, a true white whale if you will it would be the Harrsion Studios Postcard of Josh Gibson. I doubt there even is another copy of this card in existence, and I'm pretty sure the only way I would ever own it would be if I suddenly inherited millions of dollars.

My white whale is the 1887 Kalamazoo Pittsburgh team card, and I won't be getting it unless I decide to sell other cards to buy it. I have other cards on my wantlist that are actually in my price range, which I would get before the Kalamazoo card.

I share this white whale, Seven. But to add something new to the thread, this is up there as well... to pair with my signed 49 Bowman Paige.

Default 1915 Cardinals m113

My White Whale is out there...

There are probably a few of them, and I know one did not sell when offered as Heritage lot #81887 in their May 21, 2021 auction. Maybe the consignor is reading this thread...

It's the 1915 Cardinals Team m113.

My smaller "off-white" whale would be the Virgil Trucks m114 with the NL Photo caption similar to the one below.

Mine is more of a silly rare error card. I need the 1983 Topps Wrong Back with Wade Boggs on the front and Luis Aponte on the back. I have the one with Boggs on the back and Aponte on the front. Would love to get the pair together.

I never owned it, but at least I got to authenticate the autograph aspect of it (and the accompanying Jud Wilson, which I'd personally rather own over the Gibson due to his rarity making Gibson's autograph look "common"!).

Would love to hear more about this Billy, the entire story of this set is pretty fascinating to me. There are practically zero playing days cards of some of the Negro League greats because of the time they came up. At least with guys like Charleston, there are some issues that people can pursue from his time in Cuba.

I only examined them for the sake of the autographs. That was nearly 20 years ago. How time flies. I just recall seeing the Gibson and Wilson. If there were others offered at the same time, they weren't likely signed, as they were not shown to us from my recollection. Unfortunately, that's all I can tell you, as I only deal in autographs. When you feel like you've seen it all, and items such as these show up, it breathes a bit of life into you, that's for sure. It was a pleasure to see them up close.

Stephen Greenes wrote a great article about this issue in issue #31 of Old Cardboard. Here is a link to some images.

One day I’d like to finally land an E-90 Tris Speaker. It’s expensive but within reach if I find one I really like.

Quite a few years ago I was able to land an Off-White Whale when I picked up the below pictured E106 Tris Speaker, which has the same image as his E90-1. Probably the closest I will come to his E90-1 card.

Good luck Captain Ahab on landing your less Off-White Whale.

I hope all your white whales come true

I have had a white whale for the last 10 years or so

And may actually have a chance to get it (my luck having to sell some of my prized cards but it would be worth it)

And those who think they know me it is not the Felix Mendelssohn Joe Jackson on Goldin(although if I had the resources I would make a run for it)

My whale has to currently stay anonymous as I do not want anything or anyone to get in the way.

Hopefully by the September New Picks or October I will be able to share it

Stay tuned

Would love to get a T206 Lavender Cycle back to fill that hole, but they don't come up often. Really, any card I don't have for my Providence set yet is a white whale at this point.
