Actually, each of these has a clear place for the tabs. A properly cut lid has the “Litho in the U.S.A.” printing in the tab. They are technically miscut if it does not appear there. So I also agree these are cut from a sheet.

Here is the Anne Baxter lid. The “Litho in the U.S.A.” is outside of the tab's range.

On that example (or peeled, can’t tell) but the design was meant to appear. The statement was that there was no place for a tab.
