Roberts being on a 1962 Topps card as a Yankee messed me up on the Immaculate Grid once. I almost fell it again today but remembered he actually never played for the Yankees.

There is a very scarce Old Judge with Ned Hanlon on Boston. I believe we picture it in the book.

The N300 Mayo card of John Clarkson shows him with St. Louis, who he never played for.

I don't think this will be a long thread so will bring up a related inquiry -- HOFers whose stint on a team was never reflected on a card. Two that come to mind are Spahn's and Snider's late stints with the SF Giants.

Not a HOF’er, but an important card depicting a player who did not play nor want to play for. The 1970 Curt Flood with the Phillies.

WRT HoFers who never got a card: Al Simmons played for Washington in 1937-38 and I don't think he ever got a card. Also, George Sisler in 1928 and Lefty Gomez in 1943.

For the Grid, just remember that he was an Astro, as was Eddie Mathews. The Astros don't have very many non-obvious HOF choices to fill a square with a low percentage option!

Eddie was also a Tiger, making him a good choice for Detroit selections as well.

Not a HOFer but one of Lou Piniella’s many rookie cards pictures him on the 1969 Pilots. But he was traded before the season began.

I want to say Lou ranks second to the unforgettable Bill Davis for most appearances on multi-player Topps RCs. I think Lou has 4 and Davis 5.

I thought only 3 for Lou? The 4 year gap between the first two is impressive though. Davis was consecutive.

Yes, I could be mistaken on the numbers. Off by one.

I have messed up about 5 grids due to a player I remembered on a card but actually never played for the team, for instance 1969 Russ Nixon and 1969 Jon Warden. Neither played for the team on the card. |

The more commonly encountered E90-1 identifies Fred Clarke as playing for the Philadelphia Phillies in its caption. The corrected version got it...correct.
