Day 196 - 15 July 2024
In 1974 the All Star game was played on July 23rd at Three River Stadium in Pittsburg, PA. The NL won 7-2. This would be Brooks’ last All Star appearance as a player. He would go hitless (0 for 3). He did not have any assists in the game. I am showing you two All Star Game Pennants, ticket, large pin back, press pin and program. Also, the 1974 All Star Topps PSA 9 card and O-PEE-CHEE PSA 8 OC card and the 1975 Topps Cards indicating Brooks was an AS the previous year. Brooks All Star game totals included 18 games, 45 AB, 5 Runs, 13 hits, 0 doubles, 1 HR, 1 BB, 4 SO, 1 HBP, 0 GIDP, AVG .289, .319 OBP, and .489 SLG. His fielding numbers included 32 assists, 0 errors, 3 DP and FP of 1.000. Brooks was on 2 All Star Winning Teams out of 18 appearances (1961 ended in a tie). |

Day 198 – 17 July 2024
Today I am showing you a 1975 Orioles Uncut Team sheet SSCP. Included is Brooks Robinson. Unfortunately, this is only 15 of the 27 Orioles in the Set and Palmer is missing. I have never seen the sheet with Palmer. I am sure it is not too rare and out there. |

I really liked this set when it first came out. FYI - there are two variations of the Brooks Robinson card. The second variation has part of his hat cropped at the top. 1976 SSPC #3.JPG |

I always liked this set too....What I found neat about it was that the majority of the Orioles (and other A.L. teams) photos were taken at Shea Stadium (where the Yankees played during their stadium's renovation).

I was going through some junk and came across a photo of Brooks I believe in front of the GORSUCH HOUSE. Unsure if I posted this before, but several items have been posted previously and thought this may be an interesting addition.

Learned today that Jerry Walker a member of the famed Orioles "Kiddie Korps" passed away last weekend at the age of 85.
Interestingly, I never knew that Walker was the youngest pitcher to ever start (and win) an All Star Game back in 1959 (the second game played in LA) at the age of 18....More interestingly, this fact was missed last evening during Fox's broadcast from their list of rookie pitchers who started an ASG. Mr. Walker was good to autograph collectors and one of my favorite pieces he signed for me over the years was this photo: ![]() |

Nice pic, Mark. Brooks was a slick dresser. Agree…looks like Gorsuch.
