When I was in high school in the 70s, and this was a very upscale suburban area, my best friend's younger sister was going out with a 24 year old guy. Neither of us knew what to make of it, but the parents clearly knew.

It's incredible how many older films -- but even into the '90s -- depicted these types of normalized relationships. An absurd example: I happened to flip onto Coneheads from 1993 a couple weeks back, and the aliens' high school daughter is dating Chris Farley's adult mechanic character. Farley would've been 28 when it was filmed. Weird s--t ... or just up Pete Rose's alley.

Yeah I noticed that when watching Family Ties, seems like Mallory was usually dating older guys in college and Nick however old he was supposed to be.

A grown man having sex with an 8th grader? I don’t think that was cool when I was growing up. Maybe I missed it. This is not a 22 yr old dude dating a high school senior.
