I went yesterday. Overall, one of the most disappointing shows I can recall, IMO, especially since there were two floors. Some great cards, of course, but for the most part, mostly shiny stuff. Just my opinion...

I thought it was one of the best shows I've been to in years. Wall-to-wall vintage. I haven't seen that many rare, special cards at one show in a long time. My son came with me, we were there for 2 hours and were barely able to see 1/3 of the floor in that amount of time. Submitted some cards to SGC (very easy and quick), poked around, met some old school dealers I haven't seen in a long time...sold a T206 card to Steve Verkman (he was very fair with me)...spoke to JP at Memorylane, and Joe and team from Goldin. Really awesome show, wish we had more time today. Looking forward to the next one!
Some eye candy... |

Wowza. Nice stuff. Thanks.
I really wanted to go, but spent hours in a car in traffic yesterday and just couldn’t do another drive. Even a relatively short one. Last edited by Snapolit1; 08-17-2024 at 07:40 PM. |

Let's hope no thefts at this one.

I stopped By Goldin and looked at many of the cards pictured. W600 Young Mathewson Street clothes and Uniform. Signed 33 Ruth, Signed Tex Ricard Ruth,Signed 25 Exhibit Gehrig, Tip top Wagner. 1903 WS Program large photo of Mathewson ( photo used on Police Gazette Supplement) T206 Ty Cobb back 0 but the photo is larger than Supplement!!. Goldin hit the consignment mother lode their first Vintage Card auction is going to be remembered for a long time...said they were going to do a catalog so lots can enjoy the eye candy

I don't know Brian, but regardless, I certainly respect his opinion. Maybe more dealers set up Saturday, or maybe we covered different parts of the show, not sure...I've been going to shows since 1991, and it was one of the best ones I've been to in recent memory. We saw tons of vintage (definitely a fair share of modern, but a really substantial amount of vintage). Our heads were spinning right and left, we wish we had a few more hours to finish the entire floor. Next time.

Different standards and points of view, I guess. The really good cards were overpriced, as for all shows, but I do agree that the auction houses had some pretty awesome stuff, for preview, which you see in the pictures.
Ashsh had great stuff, as usual, and there was one other vendor that caught my eye. I have bought many cards at the Westchester shows and ECN over the past decade+, but this time, it was not to be. Glad others enjoyed it though--shows are always the best part of the hobby for me. |
