Kevin, welcome to the board - there really is a terrific group of folks here and the depth and breadth of card knowledge is daunting. You can't do better than to surround yourself with this group here. Oh, and I'm just North of Raleigh, in Wake Forest and while I enjoy the Raleigh and other local card shows, the shows around here are generally 95% modern/ultramodern - you know, that sparkly, shiny stuff which isn't interesting to me. That said, you occasionally run into a surprise or two.
Welcome again! -Marc Mandel |

Hitch-hiked in 1970 from Virginia Beach down the Outer Banks to Morehead City and thence to Greensboro with an old girlfriend. Gotta a nice eyeful of your beautiful state. Never been back but did put together a nifty set of T209-1 Contentneas about fifteen years ago. Can't say enough good things about Net54. Great place for a vintage collector. Welcome.

Nice. What made you decide to collect T209-1 Contentneas?

I am the quintessential unfocused collector. I have cards and sets from every category. I thought that the Contentnea First Series would be easy since there are only sixteen cards. I was in error. Some of the cards were toughies back then and probably all the more difficult now. Either way it's one of my favorite sets. They have the rustic and colorful appeal of Obaks with southern charm thrown in.

Welcome Kevin. Great forum for discussing cards. Are you going for all of the variations like the yellow and green variations under the team letters as well?

Yes, I am. It’s been a bit since I’ve “researched”, if you will, but I am aware of at least 5 errors/variations - 4 Cubs with green under the C and S and a Checklist card with the copyright in a different location on the back (bottom left). Are you aware of any others? Do you collect those, too? Good call out - I was somewhat toying with the idea of starting a thread on that very topic.
