"Mr. Williams?" "Yes." "We've got your daughter. How isn't important. That we do is. Listen, hear for yourself..." " Daddy, don't give in to what's..." "What... what do you want?" "Remember that 1952 Topps Mantle card Mr. X submitted? Has it been graded yet?" " I was going to say it was fake.". "That would be a mistake. A big mistake. I strongly suggest you re-think that assessment." "What... what should I do?" "You better get out your loupe and blacklight, and give it a perfect 10, or your daughter will come home in a box, in pieces. Is that clear to you? And don't even think about going to the cops. You do that, and you won't even get a box. Get the picture? You just think it over... and do the right thing. Then little Judy will come home to Daddy as if nothing ever happened. This is the only communication from us you'll get. Think it over... " Click.

We don't need their names, but something like "Grader #239" sure would be nice to have.

Way back in the day we had the "Grader of Death," legend of the CU boards.

Popular submitter gets a bad grade, sics all their online followers on them, soon the grader needs armed security at their home. No thanks! We've already seen how this goes in politics.

i dont think people realize there a lots of instances of 'experts' in many other fields in areas of practice that are more serious then baseball cards.... we assume we are dealing with grading experts..sometimes there opinion can be the difference of thousands of dollars.. ...can use a number designation as well #44 graded, like underwear. .i think my new underwear was inspected by #67 when it was placed into the package to be sold later at Target.. they should give their names too.. This goes against everything a professional company stands for. If asked, PSA would absolutely say 1) our graders are consistent and 2) the executives / leadership bear responsibility for the performance of the organization daily.
That we're having this discussion shows the need to fix (fine tune, if we're being generous) issues. If they're outing the graders individually, then PSA management has completely abdicated their responsibilities and the graders would be entitled to be the highest paid employees in the company (and the good ones should take their name recognition off to start their OWN companies. PSA wont do it, but if they did, it would be the most cowardly thing in corporate history.......and that says A LOT. |
