I wanted to share this snap I grabbed from the Philly show. It shows Billy Hunter in the Os Inaugural season of 1954, his only year as an oriole actually. Billy is still alive at 96 today.

I've found being a collector of snaps that the Orioles during the 50s are probably the toughest to find of any team. Maybe because they were a new team and all. But I believe this is my first of an O from the 50s. If you have any old Os snaps available please lmk. Hope you all enjoy.

Thanks for sharing; love the snap of Billy Hunter. Even though he was a coach when I was growing up he still was one of my favorites.

I probably have a few O’s snaps stored in boxes “somewhere”. I’m probably not like most guys here that are at least somewhat organized. Of course we even have the OCD collectors with their organizing skill and prowess (hope to be like that when I grow up someday, but not today…).

Default 1962 Baltimore Orioles Pennant

Day 266 – 23 September 2024
Today, I am showing you the 1962 Pennant featuring the Orioles Team Photo but now it has the year felt addition saying 1962. I really enjoy this Pennant version through 1974. The Hartzell Bird at the top is pretty cool.

At the Philly Show this past weekend, I picked up this sign from the Babe Ruth Museum promoting their Brooks Robinson Exhibit:

Bill… REALLY like the Brooksie sign; great pickup. What is the size of the sign?

Thanks Mark, can't believe I forgot to reply to this. Seeing Billy pass away reminded me to check. Rip.

Sharing again for condolences to a founding member.

Great fungo by the way Bill.

Default Alan Strout

I did receive unexpected and sad news that one of my collector friends Alan Strout had passed away. He contributed so much to this thread as well as helped in a variety of ways off line since we met quite a number of years ago. He couldn’t be more helpful with his vast knowledge concerning the Orioles and their minor league partners. I’ll miss him greatly.

Default Alan Strout

Thanks, Mark. I was so sad to hear this news last week. I believe his obituary is on his FB page. Like you, Alan was a constant and huge source of information on anything related to the Orioles. His knowledge on cards, scorecards, photos, post cards and the oddest of odd ball stuff was unmatched. I connected with him several years ago and “bothered” him at least weekly. He was a genuinely nice guy. He actually visited my home last year and I met with him this year during spring training. His knowledge and personality will be missed. His collection with scorecards and photos/postcards were unmatched. Prayers to his family. Thanks, Mark, for mentioning this.

Oh no, this is horrible news.......I know he hadn't posted much lately, but I figured that he hadn't acquired anything new.

Back in the spring of '23 I had the good fortune of going to a Spring Training game with him and afterwards going to his apartment (a short walk from Ed Smith Stadium) and seeing a portion of his amazing collection....

RIP Alan

Are you referring to the Nabisco promotion in ‘93?
