I assume since it was a “factory” stamp. Plus, the PSA label clearly says “Cancelled” on it also, so there should not be much confusion.

Any guesses on where the Ruth will end up?

I will take one of the lower condition common player examples that are serving as the background for the big boys.

But I still will probably have no shot at getting one...commons are likely to be lumped into a bigger lot.

I've never seen one of these with a "cancelled" stamp. Were any others previously known?

Yes, Morehouse backs with this stamp were known before.
