Have Type 2 for about 8 years now, Pills never really brought my A1C down. I was constant high 7's and at its worst in the 9's. About 5 years ago i was put on Ozempic, it changed everything. I lost about 65lbs and my A1C is now under 7 for the past few years.
When the Ozempic shortage started about a year ago i was placed on Mounjaro. Works the same, maintaining a healthy weight of about 155-160 and A1C is still down. One thing that has changed is that since i was put on Mounjaro i do not get nauseous anymore. On Ozempic i would often get very nauseous in the mornings and dry heave. That went away since Mounjaro.

I am on Ozempic and it’s been a bit of a miracle drug for me.
I’ve fought cancer twice, after a long chemotherapy treatment in my first battle in 2010 I was able to suppress the cancer. What I found out later is that chemo therapy can bring out latent genes and cause genetic issues to surface. Over the next year I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and asthma, both issues my mother has fought most her life. I have never had weight issues and was a pretty athletic kid. So I tend to be the skinniest diabetic new doctors have seen. They always think I have type 1 until I clear it up. Anyways, it has been really difficult to control and jumps all over the place no matter what I tried. After having blood sugar jumps regularly into the high 300s or even 400 and an a1c over 11, the doctor put me on Ozempic. He has me on a high protein diet and other supplements because of my low body weight and that I shouldn’t be losing mass. I have still lost about 15 pounds, however my blood readings are consistently in the normal range and my a1c has dropped to 4.6 within only six months. Ozempic may be the best thing I have ever tried and I couldn’t recommend it more.

Sorry to hear about your previous medical issues, but I'm glad to hear you're doing much better now. Amazing your A1c has dropped so low. Anything above 5.7 is considered high. How is your blood sugar levels now? Congrats on your improvement and I wish you continued success and a healthy life!

It was a hell of an experience and I had to relearn to walk due to the depth of the surgery. That said, I just have to use a cane occasionally now. And things are looking good that I will keep puttering along. My survival has been a bit of luck and being stubborn as shit that I will attend my son’s wedding someday and see my future grandchildren. They have told me to get my affairs together and arrangements made about four times now. But I am still here and not giving up. Now I just have to go in every six months for a cat-scan and full testing, I actually just did that Wednesday. I also get MRIs at least yearly or if the specialists feel necessary. As long as they keep giving me the thumbs up, I put those worries to the back burner. You can be a sad sack and fear something that may or may not happen which I have fallen prey to at times. But now I do my best to hope for best instead of constantly thinking about the worst and my life is a ton better. I would also recommend joining a local group of survivors and patients. I found one on the net and attend monthly. It really fights the woe is me depression when you are in a room of people that genuinely understand and can help you with your questions. My support group has been the best move I have made in the past few years and has given me some great friends.

Awh crap bro. Thats horrible. Mine is nothing compared to what you went thru.
Tho i had 2 Turbt surgerys and numerous cystocopys and catheters. Hopefully i continue my BCG treatments (immunotherapy) and not deal with another surgery or worse, removing the bladder. I have a FaceBook group i discuss with others doing the same thing, it does help.
