Default Baltimore Orioles Stadium Signs

Day 307 – 3 November 2024
I thought to show some of my signs. The signs are mostly from Memorial Stadium telling you what section you are in. The larger sign top left hung on a memorial stadium directional sign. On the reverse side is a Colt emblem for the football season. The exit sign is from Memorial Stadium. The “336” sign is from OPACY. I really like the bottom “SEC 37 BB-2” sign from Memorial Stadium.

Default 1969 Transogram Sets with Brooks Robinson

Day 308 – 4 November 2024
In 1969 a small box measuring 4 in. X 3 in. X 1.5 in. with a figurine, card and top panel was sold with MLB baseball players. The manufacturer of the box was Transogram, which started making toys in the early 1900s and was liquidated in 1971 after filing bankruptcy. Back to the box...the box is mostly yellow, the larger card is 2.5 in. X 3.5 in. with a small top panel card. Inside the box is a figurine protected by cellophane with a stadium blue or green background. You can open the top panel, which serves as a lid to pull the figurine out of the box. The figurine is fastened to a cardboard background from the bottom on a plastic base. The figurine represents the likeness of the player with a glove. The catchers are in a catching pose. Most of the other figurines are with the glove appearing to be throwing or fielding. Some slight variations in skin tone can be found, presumably to account for the different races of the players. The figurine bears little resemblance of the player. The team is spelled out on the front of the figurine with the number and name on the back of the jersey. The large card has has the players name and details about the player in black letters to include position, team, HT/WT, batting and throwing side, date and place of birth. The set of boxes include plenty of HoF’ers (Brooks Robinson, Frank Robinson, Mantle, Yaz, Banks, Clemente, Mays, McCovey, Seaver, Gibson, and others). There are 3 Orioles in the 1969 Set (Frank and Brooks {see picture with the boxes, 6th row from top, middle} along with Dave McNally {5th row, second from left}). PSA will grade the folded box without the figurine, larger card and panel. The box was meant to be cut for the larger card. PSA is hard on grading. The large card must be cut outside of the dotted lines while the smaller panel must be cut outside of the black solid line. It is hard to find clean boxes intact without a Kmart or Montgomery Wards price tag on the box or other damage (i.e., creases, cellophane crushed, corner issues or loss of paper). I have been putting this set together for years and can’t seem to find the Tom Seaver (Mets) and Johnny Callison (Phillies). Today, I am showing you 58 of the 60 complete boxes, 58 of the large cards and 58 of the small cards or panels…in both cases I missing Callison and Seaver. I am not showing you each and every cut card and panel but they are there in the photo in my pages. I can’t imagine there are many examples as thorough as I am showing you today. I hope someday to find a Seaver and Callison complete box and the large and small cards to complete this set. I have a lot of extra boxes, cards and panels if anyone has a Callison or Seaver to trade or sell. Hope you enjoy the photos.

Default 1958 and 1959 Brooks Robinson Jay Publishing

Day 309 – 5 November 2024
Today I am showing you my Jay Publishing Brooks Robinson photos from 1958 and 1959. These have been on here before. Will show more in the coming days. In 1958 there were two sets of Jay Publishing photos referred to as Set 1 and Set 2. Brooks only appeared in Set 2. Each set included 12 different photos. Some of the photos or players appear to be the same in each of the two sets but the two sets are generally different. I have the complete Set 1 but missing most of the Set 2. If anyone has a extra Set 2 or Brooks from Set 2, I am interested.

Default 1961 and 1962 Baltimore Orioles Team Issue Brooks Robinson

Day 310 – 6 November 2024
Today I am showing you the 1961 and 1962 Team Issued Stadium 5x7 photos. The 1961 is ungraded while the 1962 is graded. The 1962 photo according to PSA is referred to as “Sports Service.” Both sets include 12 player photos. I would like to find another Brooks for both sets if anyone has an extra.

Very happy to add a PSA 7 copy of El Tiante's 1965 Topps RC to my collection as he's named to the HOF ballot. It will be bittersweet if he is finally elected so soon after his passing, but great pitcher, great card, and great character!

A Look At The 1965 Topps Luis Tiant Rookie Card

In 2022 I lent the Orioles some pieces for their Camden Yards 30th Anniversary display cases and as a 'thank you' they gave me one of the special logo signs...

Bill, very cool. I always enjoy those displays. I was thinking about approaching the Orioles about Brooks Locker. The way they have it decked out is not that impressive. Recently I noticed they moved the locker closer to the elevators near the trophies. It is not celebrated at all. Thanks for sharing.

I can't picture what the locker looks like off the top of my head, but from what I understand their next big celebration (other than the 30th Anniv. of 2131) will be in 2029 (75th Anniversary)..

I'm sure people who have been to Camden Yards (or Ed Smith Stadium) are familiar with these signs:

Default 1967 and 1968 Baltimore Orioles Team Issue Brooks Robinson

Day 315 – 11 November 2024
Today, I am showing you the 1966 and 1967 Stadium Team Issue photos of Brooks. Both sets include 12 different players. If anyone has an extra Brooks from either year, keep me in mind. I tried to get these graded with PSA but they would not grade them.

Today, I am showing you the 1968 and 1969 Stadium Team Issue photos. Both sets include 12 different players. I tried to get the 1968 graded by PSA but they would grade. I don’t believe they grade the 1969 anymore. The 1969 is the highest graded.

Default 1971 F.R. Woods All Star Photo Pack Photo - Brooks Robinson

Day 317 – 13 November 2024
Today, I am showing you the 1971 F.R. Woods 4x7 All Star Photo of Brooks Robinson and 11 other players including HoF’ers Banks, Aaron, Killebrew, Bench, Seaver, McCovey, Mays, and Yaz. Appearing in this set with Brooks is Boog Powell, too. The other photo is the 5x7 1971/1975 Team Issue Stadium Photo. I am missing the 1971/75 Team Issue 6x9 Photo. If anyone has the 6x9 photo, I have a extra 5x7 for trade.
