Default Brooks Robinson Bobbleheads and Statues

Day 330 – 25 November 2024
I have shown some of my Brooks Robinson and Baltimore Oriole Bobbleheads, Statutes and Figurines in the past. Today I thought I would show them as best I can all together. It will not be perfect but will try. One of the pictures below is all of them together in my cabinet my wife refinished for me from our dining room when we were first married. There are four photos of the Brooks Bobbleheads, statutes and figurines. I will also show the Legend Lives statute, Baltimore Orioles 1970 Danbury Mint team figurine set and 3 foot bobblehead separately. I believe in total I have 43 items with Brooks. I know there are a few more out there but this is a decent collection or depiction of what to chase, if interested.

Very nice setup. Really like the cabinet used to display. I try to collect most of the Brooks bobbleheads, but I’m missing quite a few.

Default Baltimore Orioles Bobbleheads

Day 331 – 26 November 2024
Today I am showing you a few more of my bobbleheads featuring the different mascots, Cal Ripken, Jim Palmer, Eddie Murray and others. You’ll notice some of the vintage ones from the 1960s and early 1970s. Too many to list. I have some other Bobbleheads of current Orioles. If questions, let me know.

Default Brooks Robinson PSA Basic Set

Day 332 – 27 November 2024
Today I am showing you my Brooks Robinson Basic Set on the PSA Set Registry. This set is rated 3d highest. There are 24 cards in the basic set. 22 of the cards are the Topps base card and the 1960 Leaf and 1963 Fleer. 10 of the cards are tied as highest graded. The 1957, 1958, and 1971 are PSA 8.5s. I would like to have a PSA 9 of each, but it is cost prohibitive. 5 of the 24 cards are PSA 10s I am hopeful to find a PSA 10 for the 1973 and 1976. I am looking for a PSA 9 1960 Leaf. The set averages a PSA 9 and the quality score is PSA 9.313. The 1st and 2nd set on the PSA Brooks Robinson Basic Set Registry is graded at a whopping 10.32 and 10.08, respectively.

Love it! I love all things related to Brooks Robinson. But please answer me, a non-register-oriented collector. How could any set register a composite score greater than 10?

Rob, each card in a set receives a weight. The theory is a card that is super rare with a low population gets a higher weight than a card that is not so rare. If a collector on the registry has the highest graded card he gets additional points. You have your weighted score which is the grade of the card x the weight. Simple math. Then you get bonus points for having the highest graded card. Collectors into the registry with a lot of money strive to find the highest graded cards. Make sense?

Day 347 – 12 December 2024
Another game used item from the Baltimore Orioles. Today’s item is a game worn black Orioles cap from Cal Ripken. This cap is from 1992 featuring the ornithologically correct Orioles bird logo. The hat has light to moderate wear. The hat is signed with the #8 on the bill.
