Ha! Wish that was the case, but not to be. You know you have the 10’s that I had, but am happy with a 9 “downgrade” instead.

Default Baltimore Orioles - Dave McNally

Day 344 – 9 December 2024
As a kid my favorite left handed pitcher for the Orioles was Dave McNally. The two time WS champion would win 184 games over 14 years (all but one with the Orioles). He would win 20 plus games 4 straight years to include 1971 with 3 other orioles. I was a sad camper when he went to Montreal in 1975. Today, I am showing you a few of my favorite McNally items. At top is a ball signed by the four Oriole 20 game winners in 1971 (McNally, Cuellar, Dobson and Palmer). To the right is his “aisle” marker from Memorial Stadium. His rookie card from 1963 is next to it. I then show a 1971 Milk Duds Box, 1969 Transogram Box, an album from 1972 with a brilliant photo of him purposefully blurry. I was lucky to find a 1962 debut game for McNally. I am showing you the highest graded (PSA 7) Hand Cut McNally 1970 Action Cartridge. The other photo shows some other items to include him on the 1967 Pocket Schedule, 1971 Bazooka Numbered Hand Cut Card, the 1970 Orioles Champions Orange Card, his 1970 Traffic Safety Card, 1970 Carl Aldana Orioles Card and 1971 Bazooka Complete Box. I have so many more items to show but that will be it for today. After baseball, he returned to his hometown in Montana where he sold cars. McNally is one of the best Oriole pitchers of all time and died fairly young of cancer in 2002 at the age of 60.

Default 1960 Baltimore Orioles Jersey #7

Day 345 – 10 December 2024
For the next few days I will show you some Game Used items. Today, I am showing you my 1960 Baltimore Orioles Jerry Adair Game Worn Jersey. The flannel jersey has Baltimore and #7 across the chest and on the back his #7. On the front, you see the Spalding Tag and the tag “60 7 42.” I am not an expert and plenty of you are, but I assume the 60 is the year (1960), 7 is for the #7, and 42 is the size. I really like the bright orange lettering, zipper and Hartzell bird on the left shoulder. I am found this jersey to be affordable and wanted to have one for display. I also thought to share his Topps card from 1960 that shows the uniform; not suggesting this is photo matched but it serves as an example on what was worn around the same time.

Always wanted a Brooks flannel, but it wasn’t meant to be. The one you acquired sure looks nice.

Charlie,

Very nice jersey. You're correct about the tagging. I'm not sure if you can verify for sure, but the jersey might have also been worn by Jackie Brandt. He wore #7 in 1960, before changing to #25. Jerry Adair did wear #7 in 1960, but only played a few games that year. The card is from the 1961 Topps set. It's nice when jerseys have the name on back.

Years ago, I picked up an example from the 1961 season. My best guess is that it was worn by John Papa or Jim Lehew. Neither player is an Orioles household name, but glad to have an example for my collection.

Mark, you can always sell your 401K or car for a Brooks flannel. Ha.

Nice jersey, Alan. Agree with ya on the 1960 jersey. I think my document from Auction House or in conversation suggested Adair. Gotcha on the 1961 Topps Card. Thought to share that one to show the similarity with the jersey and he did not appear on a 1960 card. The jerseys did evolve and change routinely in the early 1960s. I painfully put the 1960 and 1961 Topps Sets together so very familiar.

Day 346 – 11 December 2024
Today I am showing you a few more game used items. Today, I will feature Brooks Robinson items. First, I have two bats that belonged to Brooks Robinson, which are authenticated. The darker of the two bats is a Game Used 1977 Hillerich & Bradsby Model S44. This bat shows some use but it is not cracked. The other bat is from 1965-1968. This bat is also a Hillerich & Bradsby Model but a MC44. This bat has a lot of use. It is cracked. It has #5 on the knob. It is signed. The next item is a game worn hat by Brooks circa 1976. My final game used item is from 1977. The jersey was worn in 1977 at home. It is tagged Set 1, 1977. I am showing the back and front. It is a size 42. The jersey is signed.

Charlie:

What is printed underneath Brooks' facsimile signature on the 1960's bat?

Great collection of items!

Charlie,

I was a big Dave McNally fan as a kid. Here's a program from his first professional season in 1961, the Victoria/Ardmore Rosebuds. He only pitched in 4 games, before moving up to Fox Cities.

The Rosebuds started the season in Victoria, TX. At the end of May, the team moved to Ardmore, OK. Anything from this team is hard to find.

I would love to find a home program from the Victoria Rosebuds, but no luck so far. I do have an away program from Amarillo, TX (the last series they played as the Victoria Rosebuds at the end of May). Unfortunately, McNally isn't listed on the roster sheet.
