How about Bryan LaHair? He was 29 years old in 2012 and became a first time All Star after hitting 14 homers and batting 286 during the first half of the season. He then hit 202 and added only 2 more homers in the second half and never played another major league game.

That’s a pretty good one - looking at his non-major numbers in 2011-between Iowa ,the Cubs and Venezuela he had 144 rbis - maybe burnt himself out playing winter ball (?)

I think that was just a case of him showing what he was capable of if he was able to play a (nearly) full season. There are lots of players that could have been great if they could have stayed healthy. In basketball, look at Bernard King. He put up Michael Jordan numbers when he wasn't hurt. But he probably spent half his career on the DL.

Only Wade Boggs would complain after the ball cleared the fence that he "just missed it". Maybe he should have gotten under the ball a bit more often.
