I am still working on my NMt-y 65T set, but I am getting farther away from finishing. I thought I was down to 40 cards, but then I made the mistake of looking through what I had, and I found about 60 cards that need to be upgraded. So now I have 100 to go. Here is my Mantle, and my latest pickups.

Congrats on the 52's and 65's guys. I like the look of the 65 set also. I am 23 cards away from a 55 Topps set, including the print variations. I still need the big rookies and a few of the other stars. I am also about a third of the way into a 54 Topps Scoop set and I already have the Ruth. Good luck hunting for the rest of your sets everyone.

Nothing particularly to write home about, as I still have a ways to go on all - but I'm trying to motivate myself, LOL. I do tend to get the "big cards" out of each set first also as motivation, so that's true in large part here and helps out tremendously at least in terms of thinking of future expense.
1956 Topps: 70/342, 20% complete. 1963 Topps: 135/576, 23% complete. 1972 Topps: 367/787, 46% complete. ![]() ![]()

I'm with you - get the big ones done and the rest don't look that bad. Just started looking at 1964, and Mantle and Rose are out of the way. When I get to '63, this method will be sorely tested because of that darn Rose... |

I finally held my nose and made the Rose happen a few weeks ago. Not the best timing since he's been in the news lately, but I needed it at some point sooner or later for the set. Now the biggest thing I have remaining for '63 Topps is the Stargell RC, and a boatload of commons. That should be very doable over time...

Finally getting closer on completing my 72 Topps Set - 5 to go: Bench, Rose, Ryan and Bahnsen/Reed on the high numbers. Been a journey.
Was thinking of shifting back to focusing on 71 Topps, but may need a break from the high number insanity and will probably work on completing the 78 Topps, instead. Rounding out the tails on a 70s set run - have had 73-77 done for a while. |

Congrats on 65 Dewey
Jay---also congrats, the 69 Super set ( odd name for little cards) is one of my favorites....other than that horrible Pete Rose Ben---on 55 variants, have you seen this site ? https://baseballcardvariationsguideb...ps-1955-topps/ Last edited by ALR-bishop; 05-02-2025 at 10:58 AM. |

Finally completed my 1959 Topps Set. The last card was #564 Mantle AS. My set totals 612 cards as I have included variations and some print variants.
8511cb48-f2b9-4224-87e5-4f8ee80332ac.jpeg This is probably the last large Topps set I'll complete. The ones I don't have complete either would be too expensive to complete or I am not really interested in the set/design. So now I am working on the set of 1961 Fleer Pennant Decals (have 16 of 48) and 1965 Topps Transfers (have 20 of 73). The 65 transfers are the only insert set from 1965 to 1970 (when I collected as a kid) that I have not completed. Mike |

Mike---congrats on the 59 set. It is the first one I finished and a sentimental favorite
The 65 Transfers are sure delicate. Much different form the 66s. There is one true variation , Hunt shown at 2B or SS Don't know many others that collect the 61 Fleer pennants. The team logos seem to be more popular |

None of the variations were hard to find, the hardest part was finding them at a reasonable price. For me the most difficult to find at a decent price was #416 Haywood Sullivan with no circle in copyrite symbol c and no period after U.S.A
The hardest print variant to find was #313 Frank House with complete HRs for 1954 and 1955. Mike |

The 59 is one of my favorites. The 3 Sullivans were aggravating because they were just minor print defects
