Are we all sure this isn’t an “Ahoy mate I just found one of these in my father’s garage” situation? We shall see….

Bobby--other than the portrait pose which is rare as a cabinet all the other poses sell for about the same amount so knowing the pose will not help valuing the card. Image quality and damage if any will determine value.

I assure you that it is a real question and a real card. I am not looking to sell it rather, just get some idea of value. I personally think it's higher than the $10k mentioned above but, maybe i'm just talking my book. I am a new member and I just verified with the owner of the site. i look forward to being a valued contributing member of the community. Thanks! Neal

Having seen the picture now I recant my original estimate. I'll say $17,500 now. Funny you should mention the Pele collection as I was just looking at his cards in Goldin. Do you have any (either?) of his 1957 cards?

I don't have the 1957 as there are only a few known examples. There are many more undiscovered in Brazil. I went to Brazil to make a deal for that same card for $75k but, there was trouble getting the money into Brazil from the US in a manner that didn't cause tax issues for the seller. If this one goes cheap enough, i may end up with it. I think under $100k all-in would be a great buy on this but i may also decide that i have enough Pele already!

I just wanted to verify the pose we had on VCP for the Dog Head
and it was correct...had nothing to do with valuation

Default welcome

Welcome to Net54 Neal and my apologies for the skepticism..... looks like youve got some really prime pieces there..... the images on those 2 cabinets are really strong! So glad this turned out to be real (some like this have not!)..... and I agree the values may be higher than originally estimated..... my congratulations on owning items that most only dream about. Rocky

Thank you all for your very kind words and informative replies. I very much appreciate it and I've recently started re-investing in the hobby.

Although this is 19th century baseball, i am on the hunt for a 1951 Mantle in PSA 6 if anyone has one looking to sell. I also own 75 of the 1958 Pele Alifabologet rookie cards. I'm always on the hunt for those if anyone knows of any leads regarding private sales.

Thanks again and I look forward to being a valued member of this community.

Neal

Thank you very much, Brent. I'm not sure how i missed that one so thank you very much for alerting me. The bids are already pretty high with 3 days to go. I think under $40k all-in is probably a fair price but we shall see.

Thanks again!

Neal

I just had a great chat with the OP (Neal). I can safely say he is a serious collector and is going to be a great addition to the community. I expect to see him in various sections of the forum too.
