All of the Ruth and Wagner cards that we are talking about are way out of my price range so no hard feelings on my part that I wasn’t able to pick up any of them. I never had a chance at any. My frustration comes from the fact that, back in the day, only 10-15 years ago, many of us who were not the wealthiest and/or didn’t have the highest paying jobs, could save up and get a big card every once in a while such as a Collins McCarthy Ruth, Cracker Jack Shoeless Joe, Toleteros Gibson or W600 Wagner/Matty. With the insane spending that goes on in today’s hobby, I could save up for the rest of my life and never be able to afford any of the really big cards. That’s what really sticks in my craw.

I was in on the 52 Doby until I wasnt .. which was partially due to the scratch/crack(?) in the back of the case that they didnt address well when asked .. it did quite well though ...

I managed to snag the '15 CJ Gandil in a nice PSA2, amazingly for under a grand.
Finding value these days seems impossible. |

Thanks. Honestly, it's more about the 10x value it would have been today, which saddens me a little. A lot of us have that story though. Cards are just cards. I still love to collect but other things were more important at the time (family). https://sports.ha.com/c/auction-home...21913-interior Back to topic, I neither won nor sold anything in this Goldin Auction, but I definitely have before and will again. .

I won the 1932 U.S. Caramel Gehrig PSA 6 for $23,790 with BP. I think I bought the holder, not the card, with this one. Do you think this was a fair price? https://goldin.co/item/1932-u-s-cara...a-ex-mt-6t38ex
Also bought the two beautiful 1953 and 1955 Red Man sets for about market price and the 1914 CJ Chance PSA 1 for $1,200, which I thought was a good deal given the current market for CJs. |

My dream car was a Maserati. I went to the LA Auto Show and tried to sit in one, and I was too tall. And too fat. I settled for the next best thing:
