I wasn't aware of all of those events happening in one incredible sounding game!

My question is if Johnson had pre-planned for this to be his final game before realizing it would very well be the same day of Ruth's 60th, or if he came to this decision closer to when that information would have been on the radar. "If Babe does it, I'll quit then, as a nice way to cap off two things at once!"

No, it was all serendipitous. The uniform Walter wore that day is in the HOF, from the cap to the cleats.
