OT: Revisiting the D302 Jackie Robinson Bond Bread Release Date

Other than the pencil marking, which could be unreliable, are you able to share what other information leads you to believe the Old Gold cards date to 1947? Thank you very much!

The write-up is in need of some copy-editing, but it conveys the information in dribs and drabs in between the overused adjectives. I would love to see the facts laid out in simple, straight declarative sentences with citations to relevant authorities.

I am more grateful each auction that I went on a Jackie Robinson card buying spree when '42' was released.

Definitely could use some copy-editing. I'm glad they used a lot of my research, though. I just wish they would have given a little bit of credit.

I hear you, though. I am beyond grateful I completed the set when I did. I just wish I never sold my '48 Leaf!

"On April 10, 1947, inside the Dodgers team offices in Brooklyn, Robinson met with Dodgers General Manager Branch Rickey to sign his MLB player's contract [...]
Presented is a rarity that captures Jackie through the photographer's lens that most memorable day. Only a handful of photos are known to exist showing Robinson on the day he signed with the Dodgers and even fewer examples are known that show him wearing his Montreal Royals uniform at Ebbets Field. This particular image was taken within hours of another famous photo that shows Robinson with his glove in hand about to enter the Dodgers' locker room for the very first time. While the latter photo might be more significant in that it shows the Dodgers' clubhouse door, the photo that's up for bid certainly runs a close second."

I didn't realize the "glove in air" and "batting with white sleeves" were both taken on the day Jackie signed his Dodger contract, April 10th. Is this new info? It seems to conflict with the info from CharleyBrown's OP, and I can't find updated info in this thread.

EDIT: And in fact here's another copy of the type 1 photo, sold at Heritage in early 2020, and the description indicates the photo was taken in 1946 when Jackie was with the Montreal Royals. I'm curious when the consensus changed on when the photo was snapped, from 1946, to 1947-04-10.
