My understanding

It�s not just when the check is dated but when you receive it�� if it�s dated December 28th but you don�t get it until January, then it�s the next year as far as income. Don�t try and say your check dated September 20th didn�t come for 3 months�. there�s a bit of wiggle room late in the year but not much. Be honest , pay your taxes, and sleep well at night.
