The Ruth with pigeon card signed by the pigeon. I think this once appeared in a Coach's Corner auction, but I could be wrong.

This is a tough one for me.

Fantasy:

Ruth signed rookie card
Hoss Radbourn signed Old Judge
Cobb signed Rose or Detroit Free Press PC, or 1914 Cracker Jack
Hal Chase signed Plow’s Candy

Realistic:

Signed T206 Cobb

As to something that we know exists, the Goudey Lajoie.

The mention of that card in the other thread got me to thinking of how important someone can be at one point, then later almost forgotten. You won't encounter too many people in everyday life who have heard of Lajoie, yet they renamed the team in his honor while he was still a part of it. I can't picture a current team even considering doing something so grandiose.

It wasn't authenticated, unfortunately.

My dream, signed pre-War card is a signed WaJo card from this same, rare Leader Theatre set. Yes, such a card exists, and it resides in the collection of a Net54 member! Many, many years ago, when this WaJo card appeared in an eBay auction, if only I had bid another $100 for it, it would reside in my collection today! Sigh!

This post and the other referenced have been fun spinoffs of my initial post/poll on the 8 Wonders of the Autograph World. To this post’s question, a dream couple of signed cards would be these ones (fictitious for illustrative purposes):

Wish a crisp fountain pen signature on just about any N173 existed.

A signed Turkey Red would be incredible too.

Well I'm fortunate enough to have my dream signed card
I'm not a huge autograph fan; too many bad actors forging
When this came to auction I knew it was a must have. Lock solid provenance
A letter from Ty Cobb on his personal stationary saying that I'm sending you back this autographed red portrait T206
The 3rd autograph on the certified mail receipt is the icing on top

Just when you thought the “Uncle Jimmy” Ruth & Gehrig Signed Goudeys offered the finest provenance for an autographed pre-war baseball card….geez…..there are no words for this extraordinary Ty Cobb scripted T206 and letter. This is as good as it gets, and I can truly visualize this hallowed Georgia Peach heirloom situated right alongside the T206 Wagner’s in Cooperstown or the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

I am card collector, not an autograph collector, but, holy smokes, that page is possibly our hobby's complete package.

I am so happy to see this signed Cobb again! I was the underbidder when it was up for auction (clip below). It is an amazing piece of history. And, I agree, that provenance is so important — and in these days of LOAs so often overlooked.
