It's not only the immediate auction, it's the down the road effect on price because the auction then gets reported and serves as the basis for comps. And I doubt most AHs or ebay sellers tell VCP etc. when a sale doesn't go through.

Correct this is why one could assume that many of these comps are not True Values of Said Cards....let's face it many who have sold at high levels have benefited from comps that may not have been accurate so I think that's why this gets a pass and is
looked over from many. We can't have it both ways...unfortunately this most likely will stay the same business as usual.

Yup. We will never know how many reported sales never really sold, or how many were buybacks, or how many were consigned by known card doctors. It's the perfect cover.
