I had posted about this terrific cabinet set back in April and got some good info. Bob Lemke mentioned that the 2003 SCD Catalog will include a few new additions.

Saw today that Mike Wheat's current acquisition list has 3 of these listed, all Cubs HOFers. A cool 5K or so will take 'em all. I often find his prices a bit ahead-of-their-time, although I suppose for items this unusual you can aim high...

Interestingly, his copy of Chance is not the same one that was auctioned off by Hunt's a few years ago. I wondered whether these cabinets were unique, but apparently there are at least a few copies of some players out there. This is a very useful feature of Hunt's, I think, and one that Mastro should emulate - let us see the historical data!

Those are some great vintage poses. I always like the true "picture" cards a lot. You can actually see the difficult times (not $250,000,000 contracts) in the lines of their faces....great undervalued set....IMHO...regards all

How about the c. 1905 Faulk Cabinet Set of New York Giants (with the browing/purplish mounts), including McGinnity and Mathewson. As more than on example exists for some (though are still rare), I've wondered if this was commercially issued. I owned a few of them (including a trimmed McGinnity) a while back, but can't remember whether or not the mounts indicated the player names/teams (I think not)-- which would suggest they were for public consumption.

CollectibleClassics sold a "Schulte-Chicago National #320" in their last auction. They described it as "rarer than roast beef".
