Dan, the Doyle is a variation. Particularly with variations but also with other definitions, collectors commonly confuse a value judgement with an objective judgement. Fame or value or the stigma attached to a term or how the variation came be (design versus printing boo boo) are irrelevant when determining whether or not something is a variation. |
