Unusual looking t205.

First, I want to point out that this seller has great feedback, and is most likely not looking to fool anybody. But, I couldnt help but notice how strange his/her t205 Young looked. |

I've seen some funky corners but those are amongst the funkiest. Well rounded corners with NO fraying are always suspect to me. And like you said "no chipping"....my vote would be that it's not good (just my opinion as I have no proof and can't see it in person).....I think most of us could tell for sure if seeing it in person though....good luck to whomever buys it...regards all |

There is no need to see this card in person. Check out how much the inner picture has been cropped (as is typical on many reproduced/rescreened issues). Both the knobs on the bats at the bottom should be fully visible. There is absolutely NO question this card is a REPRINT. Hopefully, it's only ignorance that is at work here...but even then... |

If you look at his other lots, there is something odd looking about many of them. How often do you see vintage cards in lower grades that are lilly whie;no toning? The colgan chip cards look totally bogus.Maybe this guy is more interested in chainsaws and husky dogs. |

I didn't notice that the bats were cropped in like that. The seller has many prewar cards for sale, including two other t205's, yet this is the only card that looked funny to me. I thought there was a slight possibility that it was an advertising piece or something of that sort (the gold borders on my blank backed t205 that I have look different). But yeah, not worth the gamble. |

I almost bid on a similar t205 Johnson a year or two ago, but MW pointed out the rounded corners with no chipping - dead giveaway on t205s. |

Especially the "Flick". Colgan's put the "l" and the "i" too close together, making it look, at first glance, like a four letter word that I can't say here. This card has that oddity. As for white borders, that's what happens to Colgan's when they get worn--the emulsion wears off the borders. However, with him selling so many REALly odd looking other cards, I wouldn't bid on them (if I didn't have them, which I do). |

Take a closer look, Julie. See how there's a uniform white "border" around the edge of each Colgan Chips reprint? (circled in the image below). In my opinion, there's little chance that edge wear could be that uniform. Compare it to one of the originals (second image). Also, it's somewhat unclear from the glare, but the background might also be missing on the reprint. Funny...none of the other images seem to have a "glare" that obscures part of the picture. Oh well.... |

disguise the creases in the card. But I don't know--you may be right. I've got a few sort of sad Colgans (as well as nice ones), and I never saw one with THAT many creases! |

I'll post the result. If it winds up being bogus I used a credit card (paypal). I get more and more skittish about buying raw cards that have been reprinted every day.... Its getting very sad the degree to which I am moving towards only graded cards in certain issues.... |

I've bought questionable items from good sellers, and never had a problem returning items that ended up being "bad". |
