I would opt for Lipset's encyclopedia. For pre-war issues, it has an incredible amount of information which, while written 15-20 years ago, remains nearly complete in its depth. The SCD book is a better resource for other issues and has pricing info, but frankly, I find its pricing to be extremely limited in value--it seems I can seldom if ever find what I want for the prices Lemke's book suggests, absent some listing error by the seller. Still, if you're a newbie or if you plan on selling and need a base line for pricing, I suppose the SCD book is more what you would need. |
