One of the best fantasy pieces I've seen is the 1951 Brooklyn Dodgers World Series program, mainly for the reason why they were not in the Series. |

I have a 1951 World Series program that has Yankees vs. Dodgers. I am actively looking for an idea of a starting price to ask for with selling this item. The only information I have for this is that my Great Grandfather told my Grandfather that three people each took two of them before they were destroyed and my Grandfather says the other one that my Great Grandfather took is destroyed and that one has been found as just the cover leaving mine one in a possible four. Online searching has given me nothing but an occasional mention such as one person saying it is "the holy grail of baseball memorabilia". It has been taken to appraisers and collectors to try to determine the value and they tell me it is priceless and it depends on what the buyer feels it is worth. The collectors I talked to said they couldn't afford something like that. This is the knowledge I have to work with so far and I would appreciate any new information or help I can get on this thing. Thanks. P.S. It is in mint condition and signed by both Bobby Thomson and Ralph Branca.

to thekingofclout - The signatures are only about ten years old and I believe signed in sharpie.
to esd10 - I tried calling an auction around me, the best one I could find to which I was recommended by multiple people to try, but they said they couldn't get anything about it through their research and advised me to sell it on ebay for that reason. I find that to be a bad course of action to take with this item. I also tried emailing a couple others and have yet to get any reply. I came here because I had seen a post that it has been seen elsewhere and it seems a place that has a lot of people who know about about this stuff and with that looking for a recommendation of an auction house that might be suitable or another way of selling this that does not involve ebay or something similar to that. |

Sounds awesome - I would try REA, Heritage and Goodwin as a couple of major auction houses that could help you. Links to them and others are in the "Vintage Links" section above.
Any chance of getting a picture of it posted on here? Good luck! |
